The Mainstream Staff Receives ASUCC Service Award

ASUCC president Ethan Snyder along with Vice President Chris Harwood and Activities Officer Kristi Carr presented The Mainstream with an award for their continued service to UCC.  As a staff we are very grateful for this kind gesture and we are excited to continue to serve students in the future.  It is our aim to bring the highest quality news possible to the students so that they will be well informed, while also giving the students a voice.  It is our pride and pleasure to serve you.

We work off of a very tight budget, but we do our best to produce the best product possible.  Many of our staff members go beyond the call of duty to make the Mainstream a reality.  Whether this means writing an extra last minute story, staying into the wee hours of the night to finish a project, or working on more issues than they are required to, the newspaper staff is committed to excellence. 

This commitment is undoubtedly a result of the great leadership that our adviser demonstrates.  Going beyond the call of duty does not even begin to describe the hours of commitment that Melinda Benton invests into each staff member.  She makes our boat float through her guidance, encouragement and know-how.  At the same time, however, she will never do a job for us as her students.  She will offer all the encouragement in the world and explain how to do a project correctly, but at the end of the day, the task is still our responsibility.  With this support and challenge, our staff is set up for success.  The Mainstream would not be possible without her support, and as a staff, we are extremely grateful to her.

The opinions of students are very important to us, and we love receiving input.  We take into consideration all criticism and complements so that we can serve you more effectively.  Do not hesitate to stop by Snyder 11 and say hello to us.  Thank you for your support and for reading The Mainstream.  It means a lot to us.
